Gabrielle Fernandez received her MFA from the University of Central Florida. She attended the 2023 Bread Loaf Writers Conference and was a finalist for the 2024 Barry Hannah Prize for Fiction. She loves writing stories that are spooky, dark, and twisted. Do not threaten her with a themed party. She has three boxes of costumes and will take any excuse to dress up.
Her love of the weird was founded on a childhood of listening to Cuban folklore and getting lost in theme parks. When she is not writing speculative fiction, Gabrielle likes to travel and coerce friends into book clubs.
Gabrielle is always into anything creepy, with a magical twist. Some of her favorite authors are Carmen Maria Machado, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, and Mariana Enríquez. She has a soft spot for romance and happy endings.
